Multimedia archives are of great value to our collective memory and provide a material treasure for our creative imagination. Heritage institutions, together with young talents and makers and experienced filmmakers, take on a new role: they are looking for meaning for and in these types of collections. The digital traces we leave behind thus form the basis for new ways of (immersive) storytelling.
Visualizing patterns using artificial intelligence is a crucial way to understand image archives. In this panel, we learn from filmmakers, programmers, and storytellers. They creatively and critically apply computer vision to archives, provide knowledge about how we can experience the world in new ways, and make our way through the information overload.
