The gap between citizens and politics is widening and the Binnenhof yearns for a facelift. Two political reporters sink their teeth into the imperative renovation of our parliamentary democracy.
Oh, dear The Hague: the Binnenhof (Dutch parliament), the Upper and Lower Chambers, the Trêveszaal, the Torentje. This is not just the work area of politicians, but also of two political reporters: old hand Kees Boonman and newcomer Charlotte Nijs. In this documentary, they guide the viewer through the building, along current affairs and past the issues of the day. Because the renovation of the Binnenhof can wait no longer, as a glimpse behind the curtains reveals. Is the current democracy as a whole also due for a facelift? For one year, this documentary observes the fights and clashes on the most important square metres of the Netherlands.
