Casting to television
Yes you can, if your iPhone uses iOS11 at the least and if you use Chrome as a browser (version 82 at least).
Yes you can if your iPad uses iPadOS13 at the least and if you use Chrome as a browser (version 82 at least).
Yes you can. AirPlay works best when using Safari as browser (version 10 at least). Note: AirPlay must be linked to your Apple TV, AirPlay on its own does not work.
Yes you can. So long as your Android device uses Android 7 at the least and if you use Chrome as your browser (at least version 82). Note: Most Android phones have a standard device browser (e.g. Samsung browser. This browser is not compatible with the system.
The system is not designed for the use of smart tv's. However, you can try as long as your smart tv uses Chrome, Safai or Firefox as browser. Other browsers will likely not work. Smart tv models that are over two years old will most likely not work.
Stop casting and see if the subtitles do show up on the device from which you are casting (i.e. your phone, computer, tablet, etc.). If they do show up on that device, try turning off your subtitles and turning them back on. Then proceed to cast again.
There are two things you can try to solve this problem:
- Disconnect your cast briefly before restarting it again. The progress bar should disappear after a few seconds.
- Briefly disconnect your connection with the cast, click your cursor clearly outisde of the player on the device and restart the cast. Make sure to place your curson outside of the screen.
This can be a security issue, the visuals are protected, but the audio is not.
- Check which browser you are using to be sure. If you are using Chromecast, the Chrome browser works best. When using AirPlay, Safari is your best option.
- Also check if your operating systems are meeting the minimal requirements (at the least IOS 11/ iPadOS 13/MAC10.12/Windows 10/Android 7).
If all of the above is in order but you are still not getting any visuals, use a direct cable connection (HDMI cable).
Issues with the player
- The quickest solution is lowering the resolution. This can be done by clicking on the little gear in the bottom right of the screen. Under "Video Quality" you can put it on medium or low instead of auto. Note: It takes about 30 seconds before seeing any effect because part of the film will already be stored on your computer. That part will thusly still play with the previous resolution.
- Do a speedtest (with speedtest.net for example) and check your internet connection that way. We advise you to have a minimum downloading speed of 15Mbps for an optimal viewing experience. If you are unable to make this, adjusting the resolution will likely be your best option, but the film might still lag a bit.
- You can pause the film, that way your computer can store some more data resulting in a reduction of lag.
- Turn off other applications on your computer/phone/tablet whilst watching the flim. If there are too many processes active on your device at the same time, a possibility arises that the device does not have enough space to process the film.
Sound does not play automatically, you must turn this on yourself. You can do this by using the microphone on the bottom left of the screen.
It can occur that the fullscreen mode malfunctoins when switching between different parts of the program. We are well aware of this issue and are working on a solution. You can try and put the next part of the program on fullscreen again.
You can turn on subtitles by using the little block on the bottom right of the screen. When applicable, you can also choose between different subtitle languages and the size of the font in which the subtitles appear. Note: not all films will have subtitles.
The films are only available in The Netherlands. If you are using a VPN, these get blocked automatically because the location of the person viewing cannot be accessed.
Note: Some internet providers offer a standard VPN (e.g. Freedomnet). This is often referred to as "privacy protected browsing." Company computers can also have been set up to automatically use a VPN when browsing. Browsers such as DuckDuckGo are not supported by our platform.
Perhaps you are logged in on multiple devices. The system is designed in such a way that you can only be logged in once at a time. So if you are logged in on both your phone and your computer, it will cause problems.
