Carla wants to celebrate her golden wedding with her husband Frans, who is demented and has been in a nursing home for years. When she arrives to commemorate this joyful event, she makes a discovery that puts everything topsy-turvy. It turns out her husband is in love with another woman, who is also demented. Director Paul Ruven shot Het Gouden Huwelijk in De Herbergier Delft Centrum, a home for demented people whose residents and attendants were given roles in the film.
