Soccer fanatic Akkie from the sixth grade falls seriously ill. She suffers from leukaemia. Youth film, based on a Jacques Vriens book, smoothly touches on light-hearted and serious themes: from friendship to cancer.
Tough sixth grader Akkie is mad about soccer. During school hours, Miss Ina prepares her class for important things like the placement exam, summer camp and the school tournament finals. After school, Akkie prefers to play soccer with her classmates. She does not care that Joep thinks soccer is not for girls. She can easily handle him. But then Akkie comes down with leukaemia. Fortunately, she gets a lot of support from her classmates and Miss Ina. Despite her distress, optimistic Akkie can’t help but meddle in everything, even from her hospital bed, like the line-up of the team. When it seems she will have to miss out on the soccer tournament, Joep comes up with a cool plan. Youth film, based on a Jacques Vriens book.
