Rotterdam, May 1940. Baker’s assistant Vincent coincidentally meets well-to-do Eva, who is on the verge of marrying an industrialist. Vincent falls for Eva, but only a miracle - or fate - can bring them together. Then, Hitler’s troops cross the border and the enemy threatens to bomb the city on the Maas river if the Dutch army holds out. Romantic drama against the background of the blitz that permanently changed the lives of all Rotterdam citizens on 14 May 1940.
