Timeless romantic comedy with a twist, in which gracefulness and gravity, love and death go hand in hand. The wearied multimillionaire Jacob unexpectedly falls in love with the vigorous but disillusioned Anne. Suddenly, fortune smiles on them. Unfortunately, they have just signed a contract with a company that will end their lives in a surprising way. Breaking the agreement is not that easy. Even before Mike van Diem clinched an Oscar with Character (1997), he cherished the wish to adapt Belcampo's story De surprise for the screen.
