In 1994, Dirk Starink, deputy armaments director of the Dutch Royal Air Force, hears about the Joint Strike Fighter for the first time. He sees an opportunity, and at this time he cannot foresee to which degree the most costly international defence project ever will rouse emotions in the Netherlands. Documentary filmmaker Robert Oey shows how bizarre political decision-making processes full of hidden agendas, administrative scheming and industry lobbying extends over twenty years. And he spots a pattern: Why does an ambitious project in the Netherlands always end in bitter disappointment?
