In this documentary, a choir for homeless people practises a specially composed opera that represents their tough street life. Who is pulling the strings: the director, the composer or the outcasts?
In this documentary, members of the Amsterdam choir for homeless people De Straatklinkers practise the opera The Disciples, which was especially composed for them. Dealing with the worst that man is capable of, the opera does not represent homeless people as victims, but as culprits. During the rehearsals, the daily existence of these social castaways and their cruel opera characters gradually merge. Who sets the rules, really? The director and the composer? Or is it the outcasts who want to get their point across?
