Freshman Sofie shows her best side one dormitory candidacy night after the other. Without success, so without a room. It requires a lot from her self-image and her stamina.
We partly base our self-image on other people’s judgements and appreciation. Especially when we have to present ourselves, we are extremely sensitive to other people’s opinions. For instance, on occasions when students try to get a vacant room in a dormitory by finding favour with the occupants. Freshman Sofie visits one candidacy evening after the other, answers humiliating questions, is ridiculed and afterwards always gets a disappointing call. Gradually, her spirits start sagging.
