Poetic and grating documentary essay which looks back on the lives of three retired famous monkeys. As a movie star, a model pupil and a medical experiment, their lives used to be governed by human curiosity, science and seemingly harmless entertainment. For decades, the abilities of this species fired the imagination and people tried to teach them human skills. Today, Cheetah, Kanzi and Knuckles hold up a wry mirror to mankind and the gap between monkey and man turns out to be shockingly bigger than imagined.
