In 1987 Piet Beentjes vanished without a trace on Texel. For 30 years, his sister Toos has been trying to find out the full facts. The police does not share her tenacity: "He’ll wash ashore, or else tourists will find him."
In April 1987, the 28-year-old gay man Piet Beentjes vanished on the isle of Texel. Ever since, his sister Toos has been trying to discover the actual circumstances around Piet’s evaporation. This documentary tries to lay bare the ‘anatomy’ of a disappearance - it is not a search for Piet himself. What happened before and after he vanished into thin air and what did the Kafkaësque world look like that Toos entered after her dear brother disappeared? Why didn’t the police see reason to investigate at the time? Candid documentary about loss, lack of interest and shaky police work.
