The young Dutchman Mourad M. died in Syria while fighting president Assad. He was part of a group of friends, a few of whom filmmaker Floor van der Meulen knows from her childhood. To find out why young Western men leave everything behind for a war that takes place far away, she immersed herself in the world of these driven soldiers. Her portrait of both Dutch and Syrian fighters shows a different picture than what is usually presented in the media.
