Skip the search bar, set out on an adventure in audiovisual collections, and stumble upon treasures that wouldn’t normally come your way with the Open Beelden Browser (Open Image Browser).
We all sometimes look up something in the database of an archive. You type a word in the search bar and the database will search for you. This works fine as long as you know exactly what you’re looking for and you can sum it up in one keyword. But where is the surprise, the adventure? Via so-called ‘generous interfaces’ the Open Beelden Browser (Open Images Browser) offers alternative routes to hidden gems in audiovisual collections, such as that of the Nederlands Instituut voor Beeld en Geluid (Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision).
