One day before going into retirement, window cleaner Alfred is suddenly beset by fear of heights. Acrophobia strikes high on the ladder, right below the window of Dirkje, whom he has had a secret crush on for 44 years. A vertiginous history of 64 years and 364 days reveals that Alfred, as an unwitting Cupid, has influenced many love lives. Alfred realises it is high time to aim the arrow at himself now.
