Director: Jacqueline van Vugt
Documentary about three Afghans who fled to the Netherlands as minors without their parents and have been waiting for a residence permit for years. Retired people in Maastricht come to their rescue.
Ghullam, Keiber and Noori were minors when they fled from Afghanistan to the Netherlands without their parents. By now, they have been waiting for a residence permit for years, living in a dilapidated apartment building near Maastricht. They are not allowed to work or study. A group of retired people from Maastricht take the boys’ fate to heart, offering help in the form of advice, distraction and the daily groceries. Heart-warming documentary in which the boys’ history is visualised by means of striking animations.
