After her sister’s suicide, Marieke stayed behind with a powerless feeling and some unanswered questions. In this intimate film, the documentary filmmaker looks for answers from herself and her family.
The platform of Blankenberge station is deserted. This is the station where filmmaker Marieke Widlak last saw her sister. Slowly, the train starts moving. We take a trip. Marieke asks her parents and younger sister what they remember of that final moment at the train station. Do they share her feeling of shortcoming? Alternating panoramas between the conversations invite the viewer to reflect on the interviews. A film about family and mourning and a tribute to expressing affectionate appreciation.
