In the attic, eleven-year-old Merel comes across a picture of her grandma with a handsome, long-haired man: Mehmet. Her mother wants to have nothing to do with him, but grandma spills the beans: this moustachioed Turk is Merel’s biological grandfather. The idea keeps haunting her. Together with a Turkish boy from her street, she starts looking for him. They meet all sorts of people and end up in various adventurous situations.
