Childless woman ditches her friend while on holiday in Chile and travels on solo, in search of herself. What she does find is Messi, a roaming boy she takes in tow.
Maud and Frank go on holiday to Chile to make a fresh start. After years of trying, they have to cope with the fact their desire to have children will remain unfulfilled. But Maud refuses to accept this and runs off after a terrible blowout. All by herself, she travels from the south of Chile to the north. En route, she befriends a little boy, Messi, whom she takes in tow. Actually, this singular road movie has a third protagonist: the breath-taking landscape of Chile. First-time feature director Marleen Jonkman and crew made the same trip as Rifka Lodeizen’s character does in the movie, 4500 kilometres from Santiago to Patagonia, ending on the barren but magnificent salt planes.
