Documentary filmmaker Leo de Boer misinvested his money and now personally experiences what the financial crisis entails. His 17-year-old son Michael inherited part of this money from his grandparents and Leo managed it for him. The film is a journey along people who - like Leo - were painfully confronted with the high toll of their avarice. Among them, concrete caster Henk, who lost 1.1 million Euros on the DSB Bank, and Marja and Marcelo, who entrusted their money to Fritz N., the 'Madoff from Deurne'.
