These youngsters in a closed institution have had some dire experiences. Behind toughness and anger, pain and insecurity lie hidden. At confidential moments, emotions emerge and they reveal themselves.
The closed institution Transferium Jeugdzorg is not a prison, but the teenagers living here are not allowed to leave. Every night, the doors of their rooms are locked. They have a lot behind them. Crime, drugs, abuse, suicide attempts. 'I’m here to watch and listen to these kids,' the filmmaker states. Observations of the daily activities, next to emotional therapy sessions and confidential outpourings. Pleasure, anger and vulnerability. Tough postures, fragile self-images. Forward, by trial and error.
