In 1945, some 14 million Germans made a hasty escape from the Ostgebiete to the German West. This exodus took almost two million lives. Among the refugees was a four-year-old girl who would later become Britta Hosman’s mother. In this six-part series, Britta makes a reconstruction of her family history that was always kept under wraps. A personal journey back in time, informed by letters, photographs, old maps and family stories. Hosman visits the places the family passed on their flight from Königsberg (now Kaliningrad) to Munich.
