After years in solitary captivity in people’s homes, laboratories or circuses, traumatised chimpanzees in a centre of foundation AAP learn to live with members of their own species again. The documentary alternates images of everyday practise with interviews with the caretakers conducting the process. They work towards a paradoxical utopia: teaching chimpanzees to live like primates with the help of methods developed and executed by people. Emotional confrontations and ethical issues emphasise the ambiguous relationship between man and animal. Is it possible to think beyond the boundaries of our human perspective?
