The closing of the mines still casts a shadow over the community of Limburg. In a milieu marked by poverty and crime, Lei, an aimless man in his fifties, and his son Jeffrey try to keep going. They long for each other’s affection, but at the same time threaten to drift from each other. Their involvement in the sordid affairs of a charismatic crime boss does not make things easier. The director based this drama, spoken in Limburg dialect, on his own childhood in this beautiful but forgotten part of the Netherlands.
