When the almost twelve-year-old Tareq flees the war in Syria, he has to leave his parents, sister and brother behind. Onwards to Europe, to an uncertain future. It turns out to be a perilous journey. Having arrived in the Netherlands, a new life starts for Tareq; he lives in a safe place and goes to school. But when will he see his parents again? If he had known he would have to wait for them for at least a year, would he have left? Did he have a choice, really? Documentary about the right to family reunification.
