This gripping feature film about the controversial ‘Deventer murder case’ won as many as six important awards at the Seattle Film Festival, including Best Director (Sander Burger) and Outstanding Male Performance (Fedja van Huêt).
In his investigation into the 'Deventer murder case', TV journalist Bas Haan shifts more and more towards the camp of those who accuse 'the handyman' of murder. The result is a witch hunt in the media, changing the lives of this suspect and his wife into a living nightmare. When Bas tries to dispute the conspiracy theories with facts, he is frustrated to see that representation is stronger than the truth. Was someone unjustly convicted or do we have an innocent victim? At the Seattle Film Festival, the movie was granted as many as six awards in the World Competition: Best Director (Sander Burger), Outstanding Male Performance (Fedja van Huêt), Best Supporting Actor (Yorick van Wageningen), Best Supporting Actress (Lies Visschedijk) and Best Adaptation.
