The training of the Marine Corps, an elite unit of the Dutch army, bears the motto ‘Many are called, but few are chosen’. People who cross the finishing line should be capable of sacrificing themselves for a colleague. The group is as strong as its weakest link. As soon as the instructors smell a weakness, they swoop down on their prey like vultures, especially during gruelling drills. During nine months of training, the camera registers the process of breaking or conquering yourself.
