Poignant portrait of young Syrian dancer Ahmad Joudeh, who after a report in current affairs programme Nieuwsuur is invited to join the Dutch National Ballet. What is the price he pays?
Syrian Ahmad Joudeh has his life motto tattooed in his neck: ‘dance or die’. In 2016, current affairs TV programme Nieuwsuur did a report on Joudeh, who despite the war in Syria and great opposition did not give up his passion for dance. Later on, the Dutch National Ballet brought him to Amsterdam. Director Kaboly kept following Joudeh, showing in this documentary that life is still tough for the dancer: he misses his family and is tormented by war memories.
