Portrait of the Nieuwe Burgerweeshuis that was opened in 1959 in Amsterdam. In a combination of documentary footage and animation, historical archive footage, conversations with both the architect and a former resident and the good-fairy voice-over, the throbbing heart of the concrete building is laid bare. Once barely escaping demolition, today it is a monument.
