Dear friends, colleagues and partners of the Holland Film Meeting,
As you might already know, in 2024 the Netherlands Film Festival received the news that the municipality of Utrecht will not continue its structural four-year funding during the policy period of 2025 – 2028.
This week we published our new vision for the future, including the changes that were necessary to account for the annual loss of around €600.000,- a year.
As a member of our international list of friends, we are reaching out to you today to report that amongst the cuts that we had to make, the Holland Film Meeting (HFM) was one of the programmes that is being discontinued (for the time being). Read more about the other changes here (in Dutch).
Whilst we value the format and its honored guests and participants, the situation right now forces us to make these types of difficult decisions. We are however still eager to contribute to future endeavors in showcasing what the Netherlands has to offer on an international scale and will continue in talks with our partners in what this might entail.
For now, we as a festival would like to thank all of you for your participation, enthusiasm, kindness and words of wisdom in the many years we hosted the Holland Film Meeting.
We look forward to meeting you again and you are most welcome to visit us in Utrecht any time.
