What it feels like when you are forced to leave your familiar surroundings in a rush, plunge into an uncertain flight to reach freedom and no longer live in fear is shown by this unconventional dance movie, in a very recognisable setting.
What would it be like if refugees were no longer 'the other ones'? This dance film shows Dutch viewers what it would be like if they fled from their own familiar surroundings. A group of dancers flees from a typically Dutch village, through the woods and the dunes into the sea, towards freedom. On their way, they struggle with nature and its unpredictable forces; obstacles that have to be overcome to bring things to a successful conclusion. The makers, director Wiam Al-Zabari and choreographer Krisztina de Châtel, both fled their native countries themselves.
