Drama in which a stuck-in-a-rut, mourning Dutch couple takes on the care of the toddler of a refugee who has been refused asylum. They are forced to communicate and conquer their fears.
Before long, Tom and Anneke will celebrate their silver wedding, although there is no real way out of their stale trivialities and the unexpressed grief over the loss of their daughter. Then, a young refugee who has been refused asylum entrusts Tom with her infant. To his wife’s astonishment, who is strongly opposed. Still, the toddler’s arrival breaks open the petrified marriage. In this social drama, a new future beckons to them, while it is cut short for the child’s mother.
