Six people talk about their experiences with psychosis and the loss of touch with reality. How do we know we're not in a dream — or nightmare — but in the waking world?
In this documentary, Luuk Bouwman (The Propogandist) follows six people who have experienced psychosis. In intimate, candid conversations, these diverse individuals share their backgrounds and psychotic episodes. Frightening and disorienting moments come to light, but also beautiful ones, such as feelings of ecstasy and creative association. What they have in common: the sense that, during their psychosis, they were living inside a film or a play, something that is mirrored in the way the film itself is constructed. It also touches on an experience that raises the question: how do you actually know you're awake? And what is reality?
