An experimental visual examination of distant memories, based on the poetry of the filmmaker’s grandfather, from who she is estranged. An existential exploration of the beauty and significance of nostalgia and suffering.
Vasilisa Ikryannikova based this graduation film on the poems by her grandfather, with whom she broke off all contact due to their incompatible views on the war in Ukraine. Springing from a deep sense of longing and pain, this film wants to offer a way to move on. A confession of love in a world that reminds of home, but is bereft of life. A nameless character here embarks on an emotional journey of self-discovery, accompanied by the poetry that provides existential profundity. A trip to the beauty and significance of nostalgia and suffering.
