‘Via a winding path, I came back to the same road, but one small step further down.’ Says artist Robert Zandvliet during the making of his work Seven Stones - a series of man-sized paintings of stones. Filmmaker Frank Scheffer followed the tentative and at the same time determined painter, from the first musings about the work (‘I don’t want to make it, but let it come into being’), via the realisation of a first ‘botched’ series, up to the naissance of the eventual canvasses.
