First film about the Bijlmer disaster, in which the hidden world of illegal immigrants is shown through the story of an elderly Ghanaian and a young girl.
The 51-year-old illegal immigrant Agymah has lost all faith in human nature and leads a closet life as a cook in the Ghanaian community in the Bijlmer district in Amsterdam. Until he is saddled with the 12-year-old Nina, who is straining at the leash to make a new start and dreaming of a career as a singer. Infected with her enormous zest, Agymah slowly seeks contact with the outside world again. But then fate strikes: an Israeli airplane crashes on their block of flats.
