Mark, Ismail and Johan are looking for Christmas trees for the annual bonfire in Amsterdam-North. Due to an accumulation of bad luck, misunderstandings and coincidences, they get more and more frustrated. They feel ridiculed by an elderly woman whose tree they fancy and they are cut down to size by a group of older boys. Even more important is the fact that the three friends appear to hide secrets from each other, which puts pressure on their friendship. From inside, this social-realistic film explains how it is possible that three ordinary boys, as the result of feeling underestimated, an accumulation of frustrations and an excessive mutual loyalty, eventually commit a fatal outrage.
