What is it like for a child to be completely new somewhere? In this documentary, Tanans, an eight-year-old boy from Congo, is followed during his first weeks in a new and strange country. He came to live in the Netherlands as an ‘invited refugee’, does not know the language or customs and has not made any friends yet. For the first time, he lives in a nice house, balances on a bicycle and tries to speak Dutch. The film shows that Tanans’ voyage of discovery is very nice and amusing, but also awfully scary.
