In the summer of 1989, the disabled father of 16-year-old Nena attempts suicide. The teenager, who is close with her father, is deeply hurt. She feels betrayed by his death wish - and by the fact her parents had withheld it from her. Then, she falls in love with Carlo. While unstable Europe is anxiously awaiting what autumn will bring, Nena discovers her own zest for living in this coming-of-age drama. Still, she can no longer deny that for her ill father life is growing more hopeless every day.
