In 1990, the lifeless body of a woman was found in the Westersingel in Rotterdam, decapitated and without hands. Only in 2008, DNA examination revealed it involved the American model Melissa Halstead. Director Jaap van Hoewijk sank his teeth in the case. He followed not only the Rotterdam and English police in their attempts to reconstruct the past, but he also visited relatives of both the victim and the perpetrator, who was tracked down. With the latter, John Sweeney, he even made direct contact.
