John Cage program: Wagner's Ring

Experimental film by Frank Scheffer about Richard Wagner’s opera Der Ring des Nibelungen. Scheffer was commissioned for this project by avant-garde composer John Cage (1912-1992). His registration of the opera is distilled, by means of editing techniques like acceleration and stop-motion, into an experience of under four minutes. Wagner’s Ring is the precursor of Stopera’s 1 & 2 uit 1987.
