In his work, writer, cabaret performer and songsmith Hans Dorrestijn talks in a comical-melancholic way about his tragic childhood, botched relationships, minority complexes, sexual rejection and alcoholism. In this documentary, we see his more serious side, as he gives a candid account of his life. The film also introduces friends and colleagues such as Ton Anbeek, Jacques Klöters, Vic van de Reijt and singing group Zazi, who share their stories about Dorrestijn, who turned 75 this year. The film is interlaced with archive footage and both old and more recent songs.
