Twelve-year-old Nicky is poor. Her mother is unemployed and gets her weekly groceries from the food bank. Nicky is teased now and then, because when you are poor there is little money for new clothes or a nice birthday present. Still, Nicky is fairly happy, as this youth documentary shows. She is creative, enjoys small things and likes doing all sorts of things with her family to help other people. Nicky decides to join a protest march against poverty, because she wants to demonstrate you do not have to be ashamed of being poor.
