Diva Fong Leng

Director: Deborah Faraone Mennella
Intimate portrait of fashion designer Fong Leng, who established a reputation in the 1970s with her extravagant creations. Colourful jackets and dresses with animal applications, in leather, fur and pleated silk.
As a designer, Fong Leng is a true icon. Her designs are part of our national fashion history. In the documentary we get to know her; stubborn and rebellious, even nowadays she still is a Diva. Fong Leng was and is an example of creativity and ambition. During the seventies audiences fought for tickets for her famous shows at Beurs van Berlage and the grand theatre Carré. We got access to never seen archive footage of these shows.
Diva Fong Leng is an intimate portrait and a discovery at the same time. A film that shows the power of a woman who continues to ‘create’ until old age.
