Dikkertje Dap, the character from the eponymous verse by Annie M.G. Schmidt, was born on the same day as Raf the giraffe. Dikkertje can often be found in the zoo, Raf being his best friend. They are inseparable, until Dikkertje has his first day of school and finds out giraffes are not allowed to attend school. Not even if they are able to speak. Dikkertje dearly misses Raf, but also experiences exciting new things. He even gets a new friend, Yous. And then Dikkertje thinks of a plan to bring the giraffe to school and bring together his two best friends.
