In the seven-part biopic Basta, we follow the life of professional footballer Marco van Basten. As a young talent, he works his way to the top at Ajax, AC Milan, and the Dutch national team, until the demands on his body and mind become too much to bear. A shattered ankle forces him to say goodbye to the pitch. Years later, restless and grieving what he's lost, he decides to step onto the sidelines as a coach. But who is he, beyond the football pitch?
