Don’t go out after sunset, grandma warns ten-year-old Deon who is visiting her in Suriname. After all, a vampire-like 'asema' haunts the neighbourhood, with an appetite for children. Still, Deon goes investigating.
In episode six of youth horror series Sranan Folktales, popular in Suriname, ten-year-old Deon stays with his grandmother during the summer vacation. He learns from the boy next door Jimmy about a new crazy old woman living down the street, who is rumoured to be an 'asema': a vampire-like creature that dresses like an old woman in the daytime, but at night takes off its skin and tuns into a large ball of light. Attracted by adventure, Deon and his best friend Jimmy start investigating. But grandma did not warn them for no reason to avoid the dark.
