Selection Golden Calf Digital Culture 2026 announced

Twelve productions are in the running for the Golden Calf for Best Digital Culture Production 2026 and will be on display to the public during the Netherlands Film Festival. The Storyspace exhibition at Neude Library in Utrecht brings a diverse range of narratives to life, using digital techniques that go beyond the boundaries of film and television. For many makers, our relationship with new technologies, such as AI, is an important theme. The common thread running through the exhibition is conversation: between people, between people and technology, and between people and a larger meaning.  During the festival, the exhibition will be open daily from 25 September through 1 October. 

Nominations and winner

Three digital culture productions will be nominated by a professional jury during the first weekend of the festival. The winner of the 2026 Golden Calf for Best Digital Culture Production will be announced on Friday evening, 2 October, during the closing ceremony of the Golden Calves.

The Storyspace exhibition

The digital culture productions in the Storyspace exhibition can be experienced via VR, apps, immersive installations and performances during the festival in Utrecht. In addition to these works, one work has been included out of competition: The Daughters, The Interpreters and The Family by Eliane Esther Bots (DOC Editions). Works by the third and final cohort of NFF Fellows – Luna Maurer, Nirit Peled and Matthew C. Wilson – will also be presented.
