How do handicapped people look at themselves, at each other, at us? In a poetic black-and-white portrait, the residents of a care facility share their thoughts and emotions with us. Jury Award at Belgian Docville.
Still today, mentally handicapped people are regularly regarded with pity. But like everyone else, they have feelings and moods that can clash. They have their own thoughts, desires and opinions; in short, their own lives. In a poetic black-and-white portrait, Sofie, Mathias, Nadine, Sam, Quan and Jessica share their thoughts and emotions with us. While unravelling their feelings, they teach us about the world and especially about ourselves. Looking is allowed (but please don’t stare)!
