Witte Flits

Director: Laura Hermanides
White Flash, the feature debut of Laura Hermanides, is the opening film of the 44th edition of NFF. The film is based on a true story. After more than twenty years of mental suffering, a young man receives permission for euthanasia. His parents support him in the complex road to a dignified death.
When Aagje (Renée Soutendijk) and Toon (Raymond Thiry) hear that their 42-year-old son Rick (Sanne den Hartogh) is entering the final stage of a euthanasia process due to mental suffering, they are faced with the task of letting go of him for good. Is their love strong enough to support Rick in his deep desire for a dignified end?

Laura Hermanides (Anahit) directed her feature debut White Flash and co-wrote the screenplay with Roelof Jan Minneboo. The cast includes Sanne den Hartogh, Renée Soutendijk, Raymond Thiry and Manoushka Zeegelaar Breeveld, among others.
